Bees

The palo verde are blossoming, and have been for a couple of weeks now. Beautiful! Every where you look in Tucson, palo verde trees are all dressed in yellow.

And boy! do they attract the bees! When I go for my walk in the morning with my mother, I can hear a constant buzzing of busy bees. Our walk is about 2 1/2 miles, and from the time I step out my door until I am back in the house, I can hear bees. They don't pay us any attention, just go about their busy business. But it still makes me a little nervous to walk under a palo verde, the buzzing gets so loud!

And I am full of questions. Are all these bees from one enormous hive? Or are they from many hives hiding in the desert? Are all the bees that are buzzing in one tree from the same hive, or are they working next to bees from other hives? When the palo verde are no longer blossoming, where do these thousands and thousands of bees go?????

First Baby Quail Of The Season

OMG, I just saw my first baby quail chicks of the season. VERY proud mom and pop quail. The chicks are so little, so fast, and blend in so well, I couldn't really count them. First I counted 10, then I counted 11. They are so tiny!!

I didn't even try to get pics. They were all moving along pretty fast.

No More Farmers Market This Year

Well, we pulled out of our weekly farmers market for the summer. Last year, we stuck it out throughout the summer through the heat and the monsoons. But decided not to do the same this year. Sad in one way, a relief in another. So until the craft shows start up in the fall, I will be relying on my Etsy shop to sell my soaps.

Here are some farmers market pictures. (Hint: Click on any photo to enlarge)

And the second is Rosemary and Mint with just a bit of Lime. Colored with French Green Clay, and again in my olive oil/shea butter recipe.
